Lyric Baritone, Orlando J. Spikes, holds graduate and undergraduate degrees from the Peabody Conservatory and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, respectively. Mr. Spikes serves as the Director of Music and Chancel Choir conductor at Hunt's Memorial United Methodist Church which was founded in 1773 during the advent of our nation’s history.
In addition to his work as a conductor, Mr. Spikes is also a highly-respected and sought studio teacher of voice and piano. He maintains an active voice and piano studio in the Baltimore area having successfully taught hundreds of students. Mr. Spikes holds memberships with the National Association for Music Education (MENC), the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and teaches students in five different locations.
Orlando is a versatile artist with performance experience in opera, chamber music, art song, oratorio, musical theater, pop and jazz. He has completed concerts with the Municipal Opera Company of Baltimore, UMBC Camerata, Vocal Arts and New Music Ensembles including performances of works by W.A. Mozart, G.F Handel, Beethoven, Herbert Brun, Christian Wolff, Verdi, Donizetti and John Rutter at venues including Carnegie Hall, the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore among others.
He currently lives in the Baltimore suburbs with his wife, violinist, Meg Mizumoto and their two dogs, Dice and Billie.
